Aqua Marble

Today I'm officially proud of myself - I tried water marbling for the first time, yuppeee!! So there is one tag more in my blog now : ) To be honest, my first attempt was a disaster, everything went wrong from the very beginning.. and instead of the initial idea to create a cute 'flower marble' look, I got something that reminds either of sea foam, or of malachite. You choose : )

Avon Aqua Fantasy

The base colour is Avon Aqua Fantasy - a turquoise creme with silver nanoshimmer. The latter is practically invisible and just gives the polish a pearly touch. Unfortunately, I didn't take the swatches of the polish alone - I'll leave it for the next time. I just can say that it's a totally pleasant one in texture and application.. and in terms of colour too, of course.

As for the marble, I was using Cliché Espuma, Andreia #3, Essence I Like and OPI Jade Is The New Black. As I said, it went awful: the polishes didn't want to spread within the glass, I couldn't create any nice pattern with a wooden stick because it would drag the whole film of polish. Conclusion: I need more practice : )

Girls, do you have any tips and tricks regarding water marble? I would be really grateful! : )

  1. I've only ever tried it twice myself, and my attempts didn't look anywhere as nice as yours :D

    1. Thank you!! I'm actually surprised myself with the final outcome, because from how it looked like in the glass - I wasn't expecting anything decent.. :)

  3. I think your water marble attempt turned out really interesting, due to the color choice I thought at once it looked like malachites! =) So, I've just read today on a post of a Brazilian blogger that she finds the technique to work better when using NP of the same brand and finish (creme with creme, frost with frost and so on). She even dipped her whole hand at once and the results were pretty nice! I myself find the process a wee too messy for my taste. Perhaps if I'd do it just on a single nail of each hand...

    1. Thank you for your comment! :)
I also read that it's better to use the polishes of the same brand, and for many bloggers China Glaze work good. Next time I'll try with Chinas.. By the way, the process is much less mess than I expected (a bit more messy than stamping, for example), plus I was using the tape to protect fingers. But the result was so unpredictable each time, so I just did the marbling on 2 fingers of each hand :) Accent finger is also a great idea!

    1. Спасибо :) Народ разделился на 2 группы: кому малахит, а кому морская пена видится :)

    1. Thank you!! As you see, I'm not a professional in water marbling either.. I guess we both need practice to make it perfect :)

  7. wow beautiful malachite effect! I like it :)
and tbh my first attempt at water marbling was a disaster as well :D
the main idea I got after my water marbling experiments - it's quite hard to create an exact effect you would like to get on your nails, especially if you are a beginner (and I am), it's a very unpredictable technique.. :)

  9. I like the effect you dot. I've tried water marbling but I was never successful, my polishes just don't want to spread and I couldn't figure out why

  13. My first, second, third and you can go on, attempts at water marble all failed miserably. I have yet to decide if I want to quit trying or not!
Anyway, I love the look of yours, exactly as you said, it reminds me of a stone, might be malachite or else, don't ask me because I won't know the names! But it definitely gave me that idea, and I love it!

  14. У тебя что ни маникюр, то шедевр. Очень нравится, как ты дизайн подбираешь, очень продуманно и в меру всего. Из-за этого , наверное, и впечатление совсем другое производит.
